Some say Ohio State alternate jerseys are good. Some say they're bad. The fact of the matter is Ohio State's jerseys have changed many times since their debut in 1890.

Traditionalists, however, may need a drink for this one. On Monday, Gene Smith said alternate jerseys will continue:

Smith added at his press conference that Nike originally approached Ohio State about black jerseys two years ago, so next year's are probably already in the works.

It remains to be seen if the black jerseys will become an alternate jersey staple like Ohio State's "chrome" alternates, but alternate jerseys will be part of the program going forward.

Ohio State's black jerseys debut against Penn State on Saturday. (Make sure your game day attire is right.)
