#Teens have been wild, but it might be the height of #teen stupidity to try to nick a car from the home of Nick Mangold, All-Pro center for the New York Jets.

And yet, that's apparently what two teens and three juveniles attempted in the early morning hours of August 23rd.

From our nation's site of record, TMZ.com:

Here's how it went down ... cops say Nick was awakened early Sunday morning at his Chatham, NJ home when his car alarm started blaring. Nick ran to his garage and found the door was open ... so he immediately dialed 911.

Cops rushed to the 'hood and tracked down 5 suspects, just one mile from Mangold's crib. An 18 and a 19-year-old were arrested, along with 3 juveniles -- and the J-E-T-S center might have hit the jackpot with that phone call.

We're told there's been a string of more than 40 car burglaries in the area recently!

Perhaps they were just teens high on a crime spree, but I have a feeling that this collective will rue the day they targeted a bad-ass like Mangold. And honestly, they should be thankful Mangold's sister, Holley, wasn't there. Otherwise, five extrajudicial executions would've probably been rendered on the spot.

Each suspect has been charged with five burglary counts, three theft counts, and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime.
