Ohio State expects sophomore H-back Dontre Wilson to play in the team’s Sugar Bowl bout against Alabama, sources told Eleven Warriors Sunday night.

Wilson, who broke his foot against Michigan State and needed surgery to repair the damage, has spent the last month in a walking boot.

While head coach Urban Meyer hasn’t offered a definitive timetable for Wilson's return, he said the sophomore speedster would likely be out until the bowl season.

Before his injury, Wilson totaled 1,064 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.

After routing Wisconsin, 59-0, in the Big Ten Championship Game Saturday night, the Buckeyes earned the fourth and final spot in the College Football Playoff this afternoon.

Ohio State (12-1, 8-0 Big Ten) will play the top-ranked Crimson Tide Jan. 1 in New Orleans.
