It seems the writing was on the wall with Dorian Jones.
When the Ohio State hoops signee announced on Friday that he would not be enrolling with the Buckeyes, indications were that he would maintain his relationship with the program. But on Wednesday, the four-star guard prospect in the class of 2025 announced he'd request his release from Jake Diebler's program and reopen his recruitment.

Jones is the No. 1 prospect in Ohio in his class per the 247Sports composite rankings, as well as the No. 114 overall recruit and No. 19 shooting guard. He holds offers from Buckeye Big Ten rivals Michigan, Penn State and Rutgers, as well as Cincinnati, Miami, Missouri and Texas A&M.
Jones' earlier decision not to enroll at Ohio State and instead take a year at a junior college or prep academy was due to academic eligibility issues. An Ohio State spokesperson told Eleven Warriors that Jones is still likely to go the prep or JUCO route next season due to said academic issues. But he'll obviously be searching for a new future NCAA home.
Ohio State's freshman class for 2025-26 will include four-star forward A'mare Bynum and two additions from earlier this week, German guard Mathieu Grujicic and a more developmental piece in guard Myles Herro.
