Ohio State now knows its first opponent for the 2023-24 men's basketball season.

According to a report from CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, the Buckeyes are set to host Oakland on Nov. 6 in Columbus.

Ohio State has only taken on the Golden Grizzlies on three previous occasions dating back to the 1949-50 season, with the most recent matchup taking place on Dec. 23, 2010. The second-ranked Buckeyes beat Oakland by 29. Ohio State also beat Oakland in early-season blowouts in both the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons.

Oakland went 13-19 this past season and 11-9 in Horizon League play under longtime head coach Greg Kampe. The program has not reached the NCAA Tournament since the 2010-11 campaign.

Ohio State previously announced a non-conference matchup with Texas A&M (Nov. 10) at home and a neutral-site meeting with West Virginia on Dec. 30. The Buckeyes will also participate in the Emerald Coast Classic over Thanksgiving weekend in Niceville, Florida, joining Alabama, Oregon and Santa Clara in the final field. Ohio State will also take part in a CBS Sports Classic field that features the likes of Kentucky, North Carolina and UCLA.

The Big Ten recently announced Ohio State's conference opponents for the upcoming season, with the Buckeyes taking on Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin two times each next season.
