A current Ohio State golfer qualified for the U.S. Open on Monday.

Will Grimmer, who is coming off his junior season for the Buckeyes, earned his way into the year's second golf major by shooting rounds of 66 and 69 to win the sectional qualifier in Springfield, Ohio on Monday.

This year's U.S. Open, which is set to be played next week (June 14-17) at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, N.Y., will be Grimmer's second appearance in the major, as he also qualified for the tournament out of the Springfield Sectional as a 17-year-old in 2014.

A Cincinnati native, Grimmer finished second on the Buckeyes this past season with a 72.5 stroke average and had five top-20 finishes in 11 events.
