Ohio has pretty weak sentencing laws. If he was charged with an F2 agg vehicular homicide, the max was 8-12 years. Prison is mandatory in this case, and one good thing about Ohio's sentencing laws is 5 years doesn't mean 2.5 years then released for good behavior or other things you hear about in other states.
