In case you hadn’t heard, the Ravens just pulled a hell of a stunt. In short, the Crosby trade is canceled. The Ravens claim it’s from a failed physical. The Raiders are framing it as the Ravens backed out. Consensus is that everyone knew Crosby wouldn’t look good on a physical considering he just had surgery 2 months ago, and that the Ravens just got cold feet. Why did they get cold feet? That’s because they turned around and signed Trey Hendrickson just hours later.

Theres a real argument to be made that the Ravens saw how much they lost in free agency this week, wanted their picks back while also realizing Trey was still available. So they made up the medical excuse because they regretted the trade….

Even if you don’t prescribe to that theory, the real impact of this is:

-The Raiders were planning on having an extra first round pick, and weren’t as aggressive in free agency at positions like WR and S for that reason. Now they have significantly less cap room and big holes to fill. If they do trade Crosby again, his value is lower in part due to bullet point #2. In short, they’re in trouble. 
-Other teams who were previously wanted Crosby have spent money and don’t have the cap room and/or have filled that need. They might prefer Crosby, but they can’t make it work anymore.

I think the league needs to do a serious investigation into this. If they find the Ravens falsified the “failed medical” there needs to be punishment. They’ve screwed over the Raiders at a minimum, and impact several other teams around the league with this unethical move.
