I have been living outside of Ohio for over a decade, residing in our western neighbor, Indiana. I, like many people in this state, am a massive high school basketball fan, and I like to attend games on Friday nights, boys and girls. I was really excited for the county tournament this Friday, with the girls game starting at 6 and the boys game starting at 7:30, at the home gym.
Tonight, I found out, to my dismay, that these games would be moved from Friday to Thursday, a day that doesn't work out well for me at all. And you know what the reason is? The mother flipping Indiana Hoosiers college football playoff game. I am so upset. It's not weather-related. It's not travel-related. It's so people can watch the game on their couches.
Did the state of Ohio move its high school basketball games for the Buckeyes last year at all for the Buckeyes playoff run? Or is this just a stupid Indiana quirk?
Either way, this made my rooting decision on Friday set in stone. Go Oregon Ducks (puke).
