Volume 6 brings 72 new players to the Big Ten.
June Swoon
The conference had a big upswing in commitments during the six month of the Gregorian calendar. The Boilermakers were the busiest team as they added 14 verbals. Jeff Brohm went from having the least amount of recruits in the B1G to fifth over the past 30 days.
Chris Ash turned his 2018 class around with 11 new players this month. Rutgers had 12, but Travis Jones was only committed for a day before having a change of heart.
Michigan was the only team in the Big Ten that did not receive a verbal in June.
High Rankings
Ohio State's ILB Teradja Mitchell (.977) was the highest-rated of the 72 new commits this month. Fellow Buckeye, OG Matthew Jones (.968), was second. RB Master Teague III (.866) had the lowest rating of the four new Ohio State commits. That "low" rating placed him 9th on the list of 72.
It's Good To Be King
Meyer and the Buckeyes are back where they belong, on top of the Big Ten's Recruiting Rankings. Not only is Ohio State the best in the Big Ten, but the '18 class is currently the best in the nation.

The 2018 Composite Team Rankings as of 6/30/2017 according to 247
The wait is over, Ohio State holds the No. 1 ranking in the Big Ten. Expect the Buckeyes to keep this position from now until National Signing Day. The question now is will Ohio State finish first in the country?
Five Up, Eight Down
The conference rankings went through a spin cycle this month. Michigan State is the only team with the same ranking as last month. Purdue and Maryland were the big movers on the board. The Terrapins climbed three spots from eighth to fifth. Brohm's Boilermakers got out of the basement with 118.16 points over the last 30 days. The recruiting blitz bumped Purdue up four spots to tenth.
The biggest losers were Indiana and Iowa. The Hoosiers fell from 11th to last in the composite ratings and the Hawkeyes dropped two spots from 10th to 12th. Although Michigan climbed a spot, the Wolverines lost -0.09 points. However, Nebraska lost -9.13 points which enabled Harbaugh's class to go up to third.
Races To Watch
Just over 10 points separate third and eighth place. Look for the teams in these spots to continue to swap places as the 2018 class moves closer to the finish line. At the moment, Illinois and Indiana are battling for last place.

July Commit?
WR Al'vonte Woodard has Ohio State in his Top 5. The 6'1" 193 pound receiver is on Team Vapor at The Opening with eight Buckeye commits. Woodard is from Houston and will declare on July 14. Don't expect a boom as he is favored to select Texas.

B1G STARS BREAKDOWN
Ohio State and Penn State remain the only teams in the conference to have 5★ commits. The Buckeyes currently have 2 and the Nittany Lions have one. Ohio State's Emory Jones lost his 5★ rating and is now a 4★. Penn State fell to one 5★ player due to Justin Fields' decision to decommit. 5★ Ricky Slade is still a Nittany Lion.
Another Month, Another New No. 1
Minnesota and Penn State continue their back-and-forth for the most commits in the conference. The Gophers reclaimed the top spot with the addition of eight new verbals. PJ Fleck's class is now up to 19.
Although Penn State picked up SDE Dorian Hardy, James Franklin's squad stayed at 13 players due to the decommitment of dual-threat QB Justin Fields. Wisconsin, Northwestern, Ohio State and Purdue now have larger classes than PSU.
Iowa, Illinois and Indiana are the only Big Ten teams that do not have at least 10 commits.
Star Gazing
Nine players had their star rating change. Ohio State's Emory Jones dropped form a 5★ to a 4★ this cycle. The other seven of the other eight star changes in the conference were from players moving from unranked to ranked. Northwestern's Ethan Bonner raised his rating 45 points and moved from being a 2★ to a 3★ player.
96.5 percent of the Big Ten's commits are 4★ and 3★ players. To put Ohio State's recruiting in perspective, 30 percent of the conference's 4★ commits and 67 percent of the 5★ players are Buckeyes.

2018's Highest-Rated Big Ten Commits
Some new names are at the top of the list for the position battles. Nine of Ohio State's 14 commits are currently rated best at their position in the Big Ten. If you look at the players Urban Meyer has offered, the Buckeyes could have the best player at every position except for pro-style QB and all-purpose back.
The Big Ten East owns 15 of the 18 positions. Nebraska is the only team in the Big Ten West with players on the board. Will a team add a fullback this cycle?

Positions three thru 10 had teams jockeying for position this month. Teams climbing up the rankings were Nebraska, Maryland, Northwestern and Iowa. The Wildcats were the only team to jump two spots.
With teams moving up, other squads had to go down. Those falling were Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Gophers were the only team to drop two positions.
Meyer and the Buckeyes continue to see their average player rating drop, but that is happening with the majority of teams as classes continue to evolve. With more 5★ and 4★ players on the horizon, the 2018 Ohio State recruiting class could be one for the ages.
Nebraska, Michigan, Northwestern, Rutgers and Purdue were the only teams in the conference to see an increase in their player averages. Michigan State(21 points) and Ohio State (12 points) had the largest drops.
Which teams do you think will rise and fall over the next month?
