Julian Sayin had an amazing first year as the starter at Ohio State. His last 2 games were certainly not his best performance of the season, but the opponents certainly had something to say about that.
Against IU Sayin had the 2nd highest QB Rating score (151.58) allowed by the Hoosiers all season. He completed 73% of his passes (2nd best against IU) for 264 yards (2nd best against IU). The only higher rating was a 152.41 against Michigan State when Sparty/Chiles had to throw the ball 38 times to try to play catch up. IU won that game 38-13.
Besides those 2 games, there wasn't another QB who had a rating of higher than 134.52, and there was only 1 QB who threw for 2 TD's against IU all season. That happened when Dante Moore threw for 2 TD's in a blowout loss to Indiana. Last night, Carson Beck, had a rating of 124.34 while completing 59% of his passes and only throwing 1 TD pass.
Against Miami, Sayin had what most would agree was his worst performance of the season. HIs rating was 129.74, his lowest of the season. He threw for 287 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT's. The only other game Sayin threw 2 INT's in was against Ohio early in the season. Sayin's rating against Miami was the 4th best against them, predictably the 3 better were in the 2 games that Miami lost and the nailbiter win against ND in Week 1. Sayin's yards were the 2nd most allowed by Miami all season, 2nd best yards/attempt at 8.2, 4th best completion percentage at 62.9%.
Against Miami in the NCG, the Heisman Trophy winner threw for 186 yards and 0 TD's with a rating of 117.13, completion percentage of 59.3% and yards per attempt of 6.9.
Suffice it to say that Julian Sayin has a bright future, and despite a couple tough losses to finish his first season as the Buckeyes starter, he performed better than most against 2 very tough opponents.
