It throughly baffles me when we don’t have a good field goal kicker. Admittedly, I’m not an expert in this field. But I don’t understand how at a university of over 60K students you can’t find 10-15 soccer players who can kick the shit out of a ball but maybe aren’t good enough or fast enough to play soccer at the D1 level. Develop those guys one the side and I have to imagine a couple can make a dependable field goal kicker for a free education and even a little NIL as a back up. You know just in case, cough cough, the recruited kicker isn’t getting it done. Jesus fucking Christ you have 1 FUCKING job!!!
Aside from that rant, what % at differing distance should we expect. Just off the top of my head I’d expect:
95-100% 20 yards or less. Really 100% but you have to give a guy a break to screw up ONCE in an entire season.
85-95% from 21-40 yards.
75-85% from 41-50 yards.
Are those reasonable expectations? I don’t know. That’s just off of my (possibly skewed) memories as a life long college football fan. Not knowing is why I started this thread hoping someone in the community has the answer a coach of a top level program expects. Or does anyone have any analytics, actual real numbers of what should be expected?
