Last year, in The Game, Day had it in his mind that you must win the rushing yards battle in order to win the game. Not, the team that wins the game is likely to win the rushing yards battle. It took a heated team meeting to have the difference between correlation and causation explained to him.

I have a bad feeling he did the same with time of possession this year. He was bent on playing slow and winning time of possession. I think that he thought that if you win time of possession, you win the game. Rather than, the team that wins the game is likely to win time of possession.

How else can you justify having this much firepower and playing so slow? Long season, limit injuries? No, play fast and get a big lead and then the starters can sit, second team gets more reps. Or play fast, tire out the defense, then play slower.

How about we play fast and don’t let the games come down to one possession, one penalty, or our kicker, ever.
