Ryan Day is one of five finalists for the Dodd Trophy, a national coach of the year award that weighs both a coach’s success on the field as well as his team’s academic performance and his commitment to service and charity in the community.

The other finalists for this year’s award are Curt Cignetti (Indiana), Clark Lea (Vanderbilt), Joey McGuire (Texas Tech) and Kirby Smart (Georgia).
Ryan Day was also a finalist for the Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award, which was awarded to Cignetti last week following Indiana’s Big Ten Championship Game win over Ohio State.
Ohio State’s lone previous winner of the Dodd Trophy was Jim Tressel in 2002.
