1. I’m so proud of our guys and our staff. Outstanding poise and execution today! Regardless of the CFP result I’ll feel proud of this year’s team!
2. This feels odd but I no longer find enjoyment in the rivalry. And that comes from someone who absolutely lived for it growing up. I’m ending the day just thankful we got the win and none of our guys got injured or ejected. I’m a NW Ohio OSU alum and honestly I have no desire to even discuss the game or outcome with the many Michigan fans I know. That is NOT the feeling I had growing up. I loved the spirit of the rivalry and the pinnacle of competition. Whatever this version post-2019 has been seems nothing less than a blatant dishonor to competitive spirit.
Sure, we had the banner tear down in the 70s and we’ve seen the tremendously intense competition over the years. But ever since the 2020 “Harbaugh reset” it doesn’t feel the same. I’ve never seen so many attempts to fight, instigate, draw flags, or deliberately injure. Since 2019 I’ve not felt Michigan has any desire to line up and go toe to toe with us. Harbaugh not only ducked us in 2020 - he tweeted to celebrate it! The 2021-2023 cheating scandal is well-documented. Last year we had the flag planting situation.
This year it felt like U of M wanted to engage in a fight on damn near every play. It also seems clear this isn’t a boiling over of emotions, but rather a deliberate strategy and culture from the coaches to attempt to defeat a superiors team through any means necessary.
