In my football watching lifetime (2002-present), there have been exactly 2 Ohio State teams that have been dominant on a weekly basis, with zero hiccup games. 2019 and this year. The closest other option is 2006; however, they had an ugly ugly 17-10 win versus Illinois that season.
2019. 2025. Week in/week out domination. So the question is. At this point in both respective seasons, which team had you more confident that they would finish the job and win the national championship?
This is not a hindsight type answer. Put yourself in the time machine and remember how you felt towards the end of the 2019 season.
While I was very confident in that 2019 team, I'll admit that LSU and Clemson did scare me, and I did have some slight concerns over Day being a first-time HC.
So with that said, the answer is 2025 for me, even with the 12-team era being more difficult. I simply don't think there is anyone on the same level as those great 2019 teams, except for one. And that is Ohio State.
