I remember last season it was an identified issue that Ohio State opponents had not been called for holding penalties and I forget how long that streak was? And that Ohio State was ranked dead last in opponent penalties per game.
This season, Ohio State is ranked near dead last once again. However, the bottom looks a little suspicious.
According to Teamrankings.com, Ohio State ranks 134 out of 136 in opponent penalty yards per game with Oregon and Penn State rounding out the bottom at 135 and 136, respectively.
Why is Big Ten officiating holding the flag on opponents playing the 3 most talented teams in the conference? Is this not odd?
If you adjust the filter in that link to last season, the bottom 5 were all Big Ten teams as well (Penn State, Northwestern, Michigan State, Michigan, and Ohio State).
