The Pittsburgh Steelers added former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard to their active roster on Wednesday after he spent the first 10 weeks of the season on injured reserve with a hand injury.
We have activated QB Will Howard to the Active Roster from the Reserve/Injured List, signed CB Asante Samuel Jr. to the Practice Squad, waived RB Trey Sermon from the Active Roster & released DB Darrick Forrest from the Practice Squad. @BordasLawhttps://t.co/1Fxb4XYDnB

Howard is expected to be the Steelers’ third-string quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph. While he’s unlikely to be in line for any immediate playing time, Wednesday was the deadline for the Steelers to activate Howard from injured reserve after he returned to practice on Oct. 22. Had they not activated him on Wednesday, Howard would have spent the rest of the season on IR.
