I'm not saying the playoffs are fixed, but if I'm the B1G Commish (who is replacing "Do Nothing Delany" anyway?) I'm coming in and demanding change. Here is what needs to happen to level the playing field:

1. If a P5 Conference does not have a team representing its conference in the playoffs, their officials should be chosen to officiate the games. For example, this year the PAC12 would have had the refs for the semis since no PAC12 team made the playoff field. I'm not accusing anyone of funny business, but for this multi-billion dollar cash cow of a sport, total transparency is needed. In that vein, if ESPN televises the playoffs, and they own the ACC and SEC networks, and teams from each of those conferences make the playoff field, and they get their officials to officiate the playoff games, that just doesn't smell right. As a matter of fact...it stinks.

2. Playoff sites must be expanded to include all regions of the country. I know Buckeye Nation travels everywhere (I was at the game yesterday and it was 70% OSU fans) but to make it equitable, Indy, Detroit and Minneapolis, three cities that have hosted freaking Super Bowls, should be in the rotation for the semis and the title game.

Imagine, between point 1 and point 2 that you could have Ohio State playing LSU in a semifinal in Detroit with PAC12 officials. That sounds a lot better than the ESPN Winter Southern Invitational.

3. All P5 conferences must play an equal number of conference games and must limit (maybe once ever 4 years) a team's scheduling of an FCS opponent. I would eliminate the scheduling of FCS opponents all together, but I understand that the FCS schools depend on these big paydays to help their programs.

4. Playoff criteria must be laid out with a "system" to take the guess work out of it just like NFL. Concrete criteria that will allow us to understand who was chosen and why.
