Last night, Day countered Venables exotic blitzes with JK running a hot route. He “got” Venables on more than a few occasions, but the execution was lacking. JK as a runner was superb, but JK as a receiver was not so good. It’s not JK’s fault because, before last night, RB catching passes has not been a consistent part of OSU’s game plan.
Which brings me to this point.
To face and win against Brent Venables and Dave Arandas of the world, who like to blitz a lot, we do need to recruit and develop a running back who can catch well.
