Tathan (Tate) Martell was set to take over as QB1 upon Dwayne Haskins' departure for the NFL, even going as far as to personally vote his confidence in earning the position, no matter who transferred (obviously referring to Justin Fields transferring to Ohio State). That came to a screeching halt when he announced his intent to transfer on January 16th of this year. Fields had announced his intent to Transfer to Ohio State on January 4th.
Martell seemed to some a lock for the starting QB job at Miami, but after the dust had settled from the tumult of the transfer, he had failed to do so, ultimately taking a position as a slot receiver. Not much was seen on the field from Martell since early in the season.
After numerous leaves of absence from the Hurricanes football team, there is a bit of uncertainty of his status, including alleged periods of no-contact, even with his immediate family. There is even some accusations going around that his current girlfriend, Instagram model Kikki Passo, is to blame for the absences and lack of contact. Martell himself said he may one day feel comfortable talking about it.

As he is a former Buckeye, I wish nothing but success for him until the day he comes across Ohio State on the field, but it is an odd story line.
