My thoughts are on offense they won’t make the same mistake Penn State made and sit in the pocket. I expect a ton of quick swing passes and screens early to utilize their big receivers in the blocking game on the perimeter. They’ll occasionally run the ball with Patterson when we’re spread out to keep us honest and go into big formation sets when faced with short yardage to run power or hit the TE which will be a size mismatch if covered by Pete Werner.
On defense I expect they will actually try to run exactly what Penn State did. Sell out to stop the run (they did but just weren’t successful). Pressure Fields as much as possible and make him complete difficult throws by blocking his field of vision and getting him off his mark. Jam our receivers and hang on them (probably hoping they won’t call PI or Holding). They’ll probably spy Fields on third downs and play a ton of bracket coverage.
What do the rest of you think?
