Ohio State easily beat the Vegas betting line this week, although it helped that the spread was 10.5 points less (17 versus 27.5). In the end, it still would not have mattered with a Buckeye 42-0 whipping of the Bearcats.
Michigan could not beat their 22-point spread. Not even close. In fact it took them overtime just to win the game by a field goal. Hahaha.
Speaking of field goals, once again the spreads of the Vegas bookies were close-- about a field goal in many of the contests-- especially the big ones. For instance, #1 Clemson had an 18.5-point spread against #12 Texas A&M and failed to beat the odds with a 14-point win. And #6 LSU had a 4.5-point spread against #9 Texas, and barely beat the odds with a 7-point win.
By the way, that game in Austin, Texas was one heck of a contest between two outstanding QBs. Google for highlights if you missed the excitement. Geaux Jeaux Burreaux from Bayou Ohiyou.
As far as the betting method of picking the favored team and giving the points: It did not work all that well this week, yielding 4 of 9 wins for 44%. The 10th game was a "push" since the spread was 3 points and the winning difference was also 3 points. Check it all out below:
