Bored at work and decided to look up the most wins all time. I took the top 3, Michigan, Texas and Ohio St and compared them to what most would say the current “King” (Bama) is and here’s what I got.
Over the last 25 years
Michigan: 220-102
Texas: 210-126-2
Ohio St: 261-58-1
Bama: 238-85-1.
I broke it down by record only in 5 year segments and the top 3 are as follows
Bama 12-17: 64-7
Bama 02-18: 61-7
Ohio St 12-17: 61-8
What I also found interesting is Ohio St has averaged 10 wins every 5 year period outside of 1. Which they were 46-16 during 1997-2003.
Bama has 2 50+ win periods, Texas has 1 and Michigan has ZERO with their best record during a 5 year period being 97-03 at 47-15.
The worst record during these period are:
Texas 12-17: 33-30
Bama: 03-08: 33-30
Michigan 08-12: 34-29
Ohio St has been the only program to average a minimum of 9 wins a season over the past 25 years. Pretty damn impressive.
Sorry for the long post
also, my redneck math may be off a little bit here and there as I did it all in my head.
also, I didn’t include NCAA sanctions because well, if PSU can get their wins back, I’m not going to punish other programs
