With the commitments of Mathis and Miller, we Buckeye fans are ecstatic, and rightfully so, about the future of this program at the QB position. Urban Meyer has given us no reason to fret about lack of talent in the QB room. Here in 2018, we expect to have yet another deeply talented group with Haskins, Martell, and Baldwin. The interesting thing about this roster? None of them should be here. There was an article on here regarding how OSU recruits the QB position, so I'll steer away from that direction. The point is not that Urban flipped those guys to the Buckeyes (Haskins from Maryland, Martell from A&M, and Baldwin from CSU), but why he had to flip them.
I have been in love with the 2018 QB's for 3 years now. It just so happens that the QB's I loved 3 years ago were Tristen Wallace, Joe Burrow, Torrance Gibson, and Emory Jones. Tristen Wallace flipped to Oregon, and is now a JUCO Wide Receiver, Joe Burrow is gobbling down Crawfish, Torrance Gibson is now playing receiver in the CFL, and Emory Jones is entering his Freshmen season at Florida.
I think the moral of this story is the QB position is the most unpredictable of them all, as only 1 guy gets 95% of the snaps over the course of the season. Who knows who will be in the QB room come 2020. It may very well be Martell, Baldwin, Mathis, and Miller. Or it could be entirely different guys. The one thing I do know, OSU will be in good hands. I think we can all take a deep breath from any QB recruiting concerns.
