Some of this is info we've heard or has been reported elsewhere. But here are some new nuggets.
On his relationship w/Coach Day:
Asked what he wants to concentrate on in preparation for spring drills and the 2018 season, Burrow said, “I just have to get my footwork faster and get my reads faster. I have to continue to improve my entire game.” Burrow worked under new quarterbacks coach Ryan Day in 2017 after spending his first two years playing for former OSU assistant Tim Beck. “He brought a lot of NFL concepts to the quarterback room and got our eyes right,” Burrow said.
On his relationship w/JTB:
Burrow worked alongside Barrett for three seasons. He said he learned quite a bit as they built their relationship on and off the field. “Obviously, he’s given more to this program than just about anybody else who has come through here,” Burrow said. “He’s one of my best friends and someone I turn to when I’m low, when I’m high, when I’m even. He’s just been a great friend, a great teammate and a great leader.” “But somebody has got to (replace him), and the competition will be fierce in the spring no matter who is here.”
My gut tells me that Urban will look at Burrow as a type of QB he is used to in the Alex Smith, Tebow, JTB mold -- though Burrow may be the better passer of them all. However, he can look at Haskins with a unique arm talent and Martell being the "X" factor and see an opportunity there.
I'm viewing the QB competition between Joe Burrow -VS.- Haskins w/Martell package plays (like Tebow had his first year at Florida w/Leak starting but with plays tailored for Tate). If Joe Burrow wins that competition, he's hands-down the best man for the job.
