Regardless of whether or not Ohio State would be in contention, I propose a new CFP system featuring 7 teams with the #1 seed getting a bye. It only adds 1 week to an already extended college football season. Teams could be re-seeded after the 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 matchups with the #1 seed getting the lowest seeded team. For the most part, this would mean that all 5 power conference champions get in (unless one of them really sucked) plus 2 at large teams. I am not for watering down the playoffs and making it like the NCAA basketball tournament, but it seems clear to me that 4 teams is insufficient.
