I heard from a friend that 200 of the 700 students did NOT go to the Sugar Bowl.
Why? If maybe 50 students were a no-show, that is understandable, but ~30% is unacceptable. They also made it very clear that tickets are non-transferable no matter what and you have to pick up the ticket with your identification down in NOLA. This prevents students from "reselling", and made sure that you had to be 150% sure you would go if you won the lottery. I am sure some students misread the email and tried to win and resell only to find out that they can't later on. It didn't help that the tickets were $50? but ended up being free.
For the NCG, they are apparnetly making students pay $200 upfront, but will reimburse you when you pick up your tickets in Arlington.
A few issues have been brought up many times among students: How can you enter the lottery if you aren't guaranteed that your friends will also win the lottery so you can drive/fly down and room with them. Why not provide an option to bus students who won the lottery? Why can't they allow for "groups" to enter the lottery.
Is there a better way around this? Thoughts?
