Earlier this year, Kyle authored an article that mentioned Braxton's accolades as the 3-time returning starter at QB for the Buckeyes.
A three-year starter, Miller is the reigning two-time Silver Football Big Ten MVP, offensive player of the year and quarterback of the year. He’ll be favored to complete the trifecta next fall and be a front-runner for the Heisman Trophy. There are numerous school records that could be in jeopardy as well, a majority of which belong to Art Schlichter.
Miller is 505 yards shy of passing Schlichter’s total offense record of 8,850 yards. Miller needs 2,256 passing yards to eclipse Schlichter’s school-record of 7,547. Miller’s only one touchdown away from tying Schlichter’s 85, and he needs 11 wins to reach 37 and become the winningest quarterback in school history. Six touchdowns passes for Miller will get him to 58, one more than Bobby Hoying’s career record.
My question is this: How many games (or Quarters) does it take Braxton to break each record?
Total Offense Needed: 505 yds. Prediction: 1 game & 1quarter v/s Va Tech. I believe Braxton will come out throwing to open up the game at Navy. Probably will not run much unless absolutely necessary in this one. This game should be out of hand by early second half, so I predict he is held out the remainder, and then puts on a show the next week under the lights.
Total Touchdowns Needed: 1. Prediction: Early 1st Quarter v/s Navy. This one should be the easiest to predict as it should come early on in the game.
Career Passing Touchdowns Needed: 6. Prediction: 3rd Quarter v/s Va Tech. Again, I'm expecting the offense to come out passing early and often against Navy to open the season. I feel pretty confident on a four touchdown performance from Braxton before hanging it up for the day. So my prediction is that it will happen against the Hokies.
Career Passing Yards Needed: 2,256. Prediction: Game 11 v/s Indiana. This is the one that I believe will be the hardest for him to achieve. As much as I want to believe Braxton is improved as a passer, he still has much to prove in that regard. A 205.10 yard avg. per game is not out of the question. It could happen the week before at Minnesota, if Miller reaches that true next level passer status.
Career Wins by a Starting Quarterback at OSU Needed: 11. Prediction: Game 11 v/s Indiana. The most obvious Homer-pick on the board. I really feel the Buckeyes are going a much improved defensive team this season, and as such, they run the table again going into the B1G Championship Game with an undefeated squad.
So what say you guys? Any predictions or thoughts on how long it takes to rewrite the record books this season?
