Former Illinois head basketball coach Lou Henson, who turned the program around to become one of the best in the Big Ten from the mid seventies to mid nineties, passed away on Saturday and was buried today.

Per the article: In 21 years at Illinois, Henson had a 423-224 record that included a 214-164 record in the Big Ten. The 214 wins in Big Ten games were the third-highest total at the time of his retirement. His 1988-89 Illini team won a then-school record 31 games and went to the Final Four.

Henson was also known for his infamous Lou-do hairstyle (or toupee), as coined by Dick Vitale.

Rest in peace, Lou. Many of your teams gave the Basketbucks fits when I was growing up.
