I can see a scenario in which the CFP committee might find itself in a tough spot, in less than a couple of months:
Clemson is the ACC champion.
Alabama is the SEC champion.
A one-loss Ohio State is the B1G champion.
Oklahoma loses twice. TCU loses once (not to Oklahoma). TCU is the Big XII champion.
Washington loses once (to Washington State). Washington is the PAC 12 champion.
Notre Dame wins out, losing one game (at home, by one point) to the SEC runner-up.
Obviously, Notre Dame plays one less game than the Power 5 champions.
Would the CFP committee punish ND for playing one less game (as it has done so to the Big XII champions, in the past)?
Or...
Would the CFP committee vote ND into the playoff, over a Power 5 champion?
Bonus: A worse scenario for Ohio State includes:
Clemson is the ACC champion.
Alabama is the SEC champion.
A one-loss Ohio State is the B1G champion.
Oklahoma loses once and is the Big XII champion.
USC loses twice and is the PAC 12 champion.
Notre Dame wins out, losing one game (at home, by one point) to the SEC runner-up.
Would the committee pick ND over Ohio State?
