Three weeks in, who's seats are getting hot? For me, the list starts with coaches who have been in their current position for at least a season or two, which excludes a new coaches like 1-2 Tom Herman and Baylor's 0-3 Matt Rhule.

My top "Dead Man Walking" candidates are:

  1. David Beatty, Kansas: He's 3-24 in Lawrence. Aside from losing to two straight to MAC teams, KU has now lost 42 straight road games. That's the longest streak by any major college team in the AP Poll era, which goes back to 1936. The only remaining game that KU might have a snowball's chance of winning is against Baylor.
  2. Gary Andersen, Oregon State: 7-20 overall, 1-3 so far this season, and outscored 99-190. Their only win was 35-33 over 0-3 FCS Portland State. Their next two games are #7 Washington and #5 USC.
  3. Barry Odom, Missouri: 5-10 overall, 1-2 so far this year. The Tigers not only lost their last two games at home to SCar and Purdue, they got blasted by a combined score of 66-16.
  4. Todd Graham, Arizona State: 11-14 combined in 2015 and 2016, 1-2 this season. The Sun Devils next five games are #24 Oregon, Stanford, #7 Washington, #23 Utah, and #5 USC.
  5. Mike Riley, Nebraska: Crushed by Oregon and lost at home to a MAC team. He just got his AD's dreaded vote of confidence, which has often been a precursor to termination.
  6. Steve Addazio, Boston College: 25-29 overall, 1-2 so far this year. Three of their next four games are @#2 Clemson, #13 Va Tech and @#19 Louisville. The Eagles could be 2-5 at the halfway point.
  7. Butch Jones, Tennessee: The Vols are 2-1 but aside from #11 UGA and #1 Alabama, their remaining schedule is very favorable. 9-3 is not unrealistic.
