I was watching a CFB show on ESPN earlier today and a topic was raised that has been on my mind for a number of years now : What the heck is wrong with USC football? How do they continue to get it wrong? There's talent both falling out of trees and climbing up from the ground in that area, plus they are a national brand, capable of recruiting across the USA. Even through the sanctions left by Carroll they recruited at the highest levels.
Several - even most - Blue Blood Schools, have gone through rough stretches- Texas, ND, UM, Bama, OU, Neb, PSU (ongoing) leap to mind. How a Blue Blood is defined is debatable, but USC should be a premier job for any HC, without a debate. Still, they hire guys like Clay Helton (who????!). Even Sark's accomplishments at UW before him were pedestrian.
Why is it that USC can't attract a premier coach to lead their program? Who is Clay Helton to be granted the keys to one of the most prestigious jobs in all of football? How in the world do they continue to mess that brand up?
