I love Mardi Gras. A bright, shiny bauble in the midst of Winter gray. A reason to eat, drink, dance, and whatever comes next. The day before Lent is celebrated in other countries, of course. But, in the US, Fat Tuesday is a decidedly New Orleans phenomenon. That has never stopped a guy from Ohio from cookin’ up a pot of gumbo and playin’ the music up loud. What a feast! Not just food for the body, but also the cornucopia of New Orleans music that feeds the soul. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy these examples of Dixie Land Jazz, Cajun, Brass Band, Gypsy Jazz, Zydeco, and New Orleans R&B/Funk.
