Seeking advice:
The morning of The Game, I took the Tube-mobile and Rubix Jr out on the road to get a haricut & visit Jr's grandma to watch a little football (house divided at home, Jr & I decided to hang out with fellow Buckeye fans). En route, my wife's beloved 4Runner decided it had reached the end of its life and committed vehicular suicide by slamming head-on into a concrete retaining wall on 670W. Rubix Jr is fine save for a small bruise on his shoulder/neck from the seat belt, but I took the brunt of the accident in the front seat. The dash pushed back about 6" thus creating a fantastically colored bruise/contusion on my right shin and, as best I can tell, cracked a couple of ribs before it was finished. I went to the ER once the 4Runner was secure on the tow-truck & the Mrs. had picked up Jr. They took X-rays of my tib/fib (nothing broken) and gave me some meds to manage pain (Narco & 600mg Ibuprofen) with instructions to follow up with my Dr. within 3-4 days.
I made an appointment with my Dr. for Tuesday (12/1) at 11:20a and an appointment with my eye Dr across town (glasses were totaled along with the car) at 12:30p. Arrived for my Dr. appt at 11:15, sat in the waiting room for an hour & 10 minutes, watched several walk-ins come in, pay their copay & be called back, then my patience left me. I approached the receptionist and asked her to refund my copay so I could leave. Her response "can't you just wait a few minutes more?" I explained to her that no, I couldn't wait a few minutes more as I had to cross town for another appointment with a Dr.'s office that understands the concept of appointments & scheduling and left. Tried to make another appointment later that night & was told that I couldn't get in to see my Dr. for at least two weeks unless I can make another mid-day appointment (which I can't do). Tried walking in on Friday & was sent home with a "we don't take walk-ins on Fridays". Tried walking in last night & was sent home with a "we can't see you for an accident follow-up as a walk-in."
Here's the advice part: Do I make another appointment with this a@$#*le Dr. office or try to move on & find another?
Paying Forward:
A good friend of mine (literally known her family since we were kids, played little league w/her brother) has been battling a serious illness for most of her adult life and it's really taking a toll on her both physically and financially. From her Booster page:
Ive had Gastroparesis for 20yrs and now rely on an IV daily for 16hrs just to barely stay alive. There is no cure. Its the most painful disease a person could experience and has turned my life upside down. Im basically bedridden and dependent on my parents. Ive already had to file bankruptcy once bc of medical bills and my monthly insurance that's $1800 just so I can get my TPN bc medicare doesn't cover anything at all. I now need to depend on a wheelchair if my parents take me out which requires more than a few steps.
I know it's the holiday season and I hate asking for hand-outs, but if anyone has a few dollars to spare, please help raise awareness of this nasty condition
TL/DR version: I totaled my wife's old 4Runner & my doctor is an ass, should I stick with him or find another practice? Help out a friend, buy a T-shirt.
