One of the best wide receivers in the 2027 class is planning on taking a gameday visit to Ohio State.

Five-star Indiana prospect Monshun Sales told On3 he’ll be in attendance for the Buckeyes’ season opener against Texas on Aug. 30, a contest that’s expected to attract many premier recruits to Columbus.

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Sales is considered the No. 13 prospect and the No. 2 wide receiver in the country. He picked up his offer from the Buckeyes in late May and has already visited Columbus several times. The 2027 class offers a prime opportunity for Brian Hartline and the Buckeyes to clean up at wide receiver recruiting again, with Jamier Brown already committed and their other top two targets, Sales and Dakota Guerrant, residing in the Midwest.

Last season, Sales caught 34 passes for 568 yards and seven touchdowns. Early in his recruitment, Ohio State and Alabama are seen as frontrunners for Sales. The Buckeyes had considerable success with recruiting high-profile Indiana receivers recently, landing Mylan Graham and Jerquaden Guilford in recent recruiting cycles.

Reinaldo Perez also visiting Ohio State for the Texas game

Sales won’t be the only coveted target visiting for the heavyweight season-opening clash. Four-star 2027 Ohio defensive end Reinaldo Perez will also visit Columbus for that game, and the Columbus Academy standout won’t have to travel very far for that trip.

Perez attended nearly every recruiting camp Ohio State hosted this summer because he wanted the experience of working out with Larry Johnson. It paid off later that month, as Perez picked up an offer from Johnson on June 19.

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound Perez is considered the No. 211 overall prospect and the No. 22 defensive lineman in the 2027 class. As a sophomore, he recorded 73 tackles, 11 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, a blocked field goal and two fumble recoveries.

Perez grew up around Ohio State, so the Buckeyes will use that to their advantage. They’re far from the only program recruiting Perez hard, though, as Tennessee, Florida, Michigan State, Louisville and Syracuse among others are heavily pursuing the Columbus resident.

Chris Henry Jr. and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt hosting back-to-school giveaway Saturday

High school teammates and Ohio State wide receiver commits Chris Henry Jr. and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt are hard at work preparing for their season opener in about three weeks from now. But first, the duo is taking some time to give back to their community off the field.

Henry Jr. and Dixon-Wyatt are hosting a back-to-school drive at an Adidas outlet store in California from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Backpacks stuffed with supplies will be given away at the event. Henry and Dixon-Wyatt will also be available for photographs and autographs for children.

OSU offers Derwin Fields

This one slipped through the cracks a little last week, but Ohio State has offered another promising edge rusher in the 2027 class. Larry Johnson offered four-star Mississippi product Derwin Fields on July 30, as the standout defensive end now boasts 30 Division I offers.

Other schools that have offered the 6-foot-5, 220-pound playmaker include Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Mississippi State, Mizzou, Nebraska, Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

In his sophomore season, Fields recorded 61 tackles, 11 sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
