Trailer for Ready Player One, with Strong Columbus Ties, Drops

“I live here in Columbus, Ohio. In 2045, it’s still ranked the fastest-growing city on earth…”

And so begins the trailer for “Ready Player One,” a new Steven Spielberg movie based off of the 2011 book by the same name from Ashland native Ernest Cline.

Although there doesn't seem to be any distinguishable scenes from Columbus in the movie and the crew didn't film on location in the Buckeye State capital, it's still cool to see a major motion picture coming out with ties to Columbus.

Both the protagonist, Wade Watts, and the evil corporation depicted in the film, Innovative Online Industries (IOI), are based in Columbus because in this future world, Cbus has the nation's best internet.

We won't spoil too many elements from the film, which is due in theaters March 30, 2018, but here's a look at all of the nostalgic Easter eggs packed into the trailer:
