This is weird.
Apparently Virginia Tech erected an empty trophy case in 1998 reserved exclusively for the national title trophy. The game's greatest prize is something Virginia Tech hasn't sniffed since Mike Vike was throwing darts and scrambling in Blackburg.
Perhaps it's because they play Ohio State this fall or it's the end of the BCS era, but Virginia Tech has removed the exhibit and replaced it with a giant Hokie:
