The Hurry Up is your nightly dose of updates from the Ohio State football recruiting trail, keeping tabs on the latest from commits and targets from around the country.

WADING THE TIDE

Though he's given no verbal indication his commitment to Ohio State is wavering, Jacksonville, Florida, cornerback Shaun Wade decided to make in impromptu visit to Alabama with his father on Friday before the Crimson Tide headed to Arkansas for their game.

The 6-foot-1, 177-pound Wade is considered the third-best cornerback and No. 18 player overall in the Class of 2017. He pledged his services to Ohio State in January 2015, but is set to take an official visit to Alabama for the game against Texas A&M on Oct. 22.

“This is really a decision he's going to have to make later on in the year if anything has changed,” Wade's father, Randy, told 247Sports ($).

Wade also plans to travel to Columbus for the Nov. 5 game against Nebraska before ultimately reaffirming his commitment or flipping to another school in late November or early December.

Ohio State has not put all of its eggs in Wade's basket in case Wade decommits, however, actively recruiting four-star corners Bubba Bolden, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bishop Gorman, and Xavier McKinney, of Roswell, Georgia.

A LONG WAY TO GO

Just two weeks after earning an offer from Ohio State, Lithonia, Georgia, Miller Grove three-star defensive end Brenton Cox took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to share his Top 10 schools. He included Ohio State alongside Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

“I like that [Ohio State] is in the downtown area and that everyone on the defensive line is in different packages,” Cox told Eleven Warriors.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is considered the 14th-best strong-side defensive end and the No. 31 overall prospect in the Peach State for the Class of 2018. Cox currently holds 14 scholarship offers, but it should be noted the Bulldogs, Rebels, Seminoles and Tigers are not among those currently in pursuit.

ON THE HORIZON

Bowling Green, Kentucky, South Warren defensive tackle Jacob Lacey, the fourth-best defensive tackle and the No. 37 overall prospect in the Class of 2019, unofficially attended his first Ohio State game on Saturday.

“It went pretty good,” Lacey told Eleven Warriors. “I didn't get an offer, but I got to speak a lot with coach [Larry] Johnson. He said he's going to watch my game film this week. I'll give him a call later this week, and we will see. It was great to see an actual game. Overall, it was a very good day.”

The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Lacey currently holds five scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame and Tennessee, but talks with Johnson frequently.

“Coach Johnson is truly impressive. My dad says he is a true man,” Lacey said. “He is a straight shooter. He explained that he wants to develop men [into] better future husbands and employees. He wants to be able to talk to you after your playing days and know about your life and kids. I can tell he wants the best for his players. He's not just selling stuff, he is real.”

Lacey got to see that first-hand on Saturday.

“Getting to go in the locker room after the game and see the players and coaches together was a really cool experience,” he said, noting he can't wait to get back for another game.

CRABCAKES AND FOOTBALL

Waldorf, Maryland, North Point four-star offensive tackle Rasheed Walker was also on campus on Saturday, his first visit since being offered a scholarship by Ohio State in early September.

“It was fun and exciting,” Walker told 247Sports ($). “I expected it to be high energy and fun, and it was. I had been there once before for camp in the summer. I had more fun this time.”

The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder is considered the sixth-best player in the state and the No. 20 offensive tackle in the Class of 2018. Walker currently holds eight scholarship offers from programs such as Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Pitt, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

“Ohio State is in my top three,” he said. “I like Ohio State a lot. I'm thinking about coming back for the Nebraska game and maybe the Michigan game.”
