Ohio State didn’t get a home night game against Texas, but Texas will get a home night game against Ohio State.
As part of Disney’s upfront presentation to advertisers on Tuesday, ABC announced that it will broadcast the Week 2 game in Austin, Texas, between Ohio State and Texas at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 12.
ESPN also announced that College GameDay will be in Austin for the game.

The game between the Buckeyes and Longhorns comes as the second leg of a home-and-home series between Ohio State and Texas that began last year with a Week 1 game in Columbus. Ohio State attempted to have that game moved to Sunday night so that it could play in primetime after the broadcast rights to the game were claimed by FOX, but Texas exercised its right to decline the date change.
Because Texas is hosting the game, ABC and ESPN have the broadcast rights to this year’s game as part of their television contract with the SEC.
It’s the first time Ohio State will play a regular-season game on ABC since 2022 – the final year ABC and ESPN were part of the Big Ten’s television – when the Buckeyes played five regular-season games on ABC, concluding with a 43-30 win over Maryland on Nov. 19.
Ohio State will be looking for its third straight win against Texas after defeating the Longhorns 14-7 in last year’s game at the Shoe, which came after an iconic 28-14 win over Texas in the CFP semifinal at the Cotton Bowl during the Buckeyes’ 2024 national championship run.
The 7:30 p.m. start is the second kickoff time to be announced for an Ohio State game this season along with the Ohio State vs. Michigan game, which will kick off at noon on Nov. 28 and will be televised by FOX.
