Chaz Coleman's Tennessee career is over.

According to multiple reports, the Penn State transfer defensive end has been medically disqualified and is no longer part of the Tennessee football program.

A four-star recruit out of Harding High School in Warren, Ohio, Coleman played a limited role as a freshman at Penn State, recording six tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. Despite his modest production, his 6-foot-4, 240-pound frame and athleticism made him one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal. 247Sports ranked him as the No. 3 edge rusher and the No. 16 overall transfer this offseason.

Coleman committed to Tennessee on Jan. 10, following former Ohio State and Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles to Knoxville. The Buckeyes were considered the early favorite after Coleman entered the transfer portal in December 2025 and hosted him for a visit the week before he ultimately chose the Volunteers.

Coleman enrolled at Tennessee in January but was absent for the second half of spring practice because of what head coach Josh Heupel described as personal matters. He also did not initially report for summer workouts in late May.

"Chaz has been dealing with some things, and we're here to support him. We'll continue to go through that process," Heupel said on May 27.

That process has now come to an end. Coleman leaves Tennessee without ever playing a snap for the Volunteers, bringing his tenure in Knoxville to a close before it ever began.
