I was curious to see just how many current and prospective Buckeye commits would be playing in the various high school All-American games in January. I figured others would be curious as well, so here is a list of the Ohio State commits (and possible commits) who will be playing in the US Army and Under Armour All-American games.
US Army All-American Bowl
- Ezekiel Elliott - RB
- Shelton Gibson - WR (undecided)
- Evan Lisle - OL
- Mike Mitchell - LB (announcing during game)
- Marquez North - WR (undecided)
- James Quick - WR (announcing during game)
- Tony Stevens - WR (FSU decommit)
- Eli Woodard - DB
- Johnny Townsend - P
- Michael Hill - DL
Under Armour All-American Game
- Cam Burrows - DB
- Joey Bosa - DL
- Vonn Bell - DB (undecided)
- Gareon Conley - DB
- Damore'ea Stringfellow - WR (Washington verbal - still in contact with OSU coaching staff)
- Jalin Marshall - ATH
- David Dawson - OL (Michigan decommit)
- Trey Johnson - LB (Auburn decommit)
- Marcus Baugh - TE
So by my count, that is 10 current Buckeye commits, and 8/9 possible commits who will be playing in these two games. I know there are a few other games as well that some of the guys may be playing in, though I do not have those here. I'm excited to see such a strong Buckeye influence in each of these games, and am expecting guys like Elliott, Marshall, Bosa, and others to really shine with the pads on.
**Updated to include Johnny Townsend and Michael Hill in the US Army game, verbal by Gareon Conley, and scheduled announcements at the US Army game by Mitchell and Quick.

What are the dates of the games?
Northland Grad 2006
All City 03/04/05 Baseball
All City 04/05 Football
D 2 Saginaw Valley State University.
US Army AA - Jan 5th @ 1 PM et
UA AA - Jan 4th @ 5 PM et
That's quite a list, and there are a few other all-star games that we could have more commits in later on as well.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
That is crazy!!Will be nice to see future Bucs we haven't seen that much of, ie. Baugh. Can't wait to see how staff uses him,as a straight up TE or HB.But we have a few good ones now,so I can be patient.lol
SCOTTC.
Thanks for putting this list together. I count 7 commits. You should have Mitchell as Undecided.
Correct - that is now fixed.
7 is still a pretty impressive number, with several more likely to come.

Mitchell is not an OSU commit
exactly what i was thinking
Fixed it. Just got to typing too fast.

The Semper Fidelis AA Game roster includes JT Barrett.
Dates are Friday, January 4th for the Under Armour game, and Saturday, January 5th for the US Army game.

best believe I am going to be watching, planted firmly on my couch
Any idea how many of the uncomitted guys that we're after are planning to announce at these games? I'd love to see some guys pick the Bucks in front of a national audience
Hill and Townsend are playing in the army game
I seem to remember hearing the same thing, but they are not listed on the official website roster (yet). It is possible that they have not yet had their "invitation ceremony" and the site is waiting to list players until that happens.
Also, wasn't Hill injured toward the end of the year and unable to play? I seem to recall that, and if so, maybe he is unavailable for this game.

I'm suprised Price or Hill didn't get an invite
One thing I really like about this is the leaders of the class seem to be split up so they can each campaign to others in the game. I think that Elliot, Burrows, and Marshall are the top 3 in-class recruiters that we have. Burrows and Marshall can campaign for the UA Game players who seem to be players all on the fence about tOSU. Elliot can talk to Gibson, Quick, and Mitchell who all 3 have had the Buckeyes as their #1. I think that these all-star games can not only give our guys the time to shine, but help us lock down some remaining targets.
Agree completely. Though they're not the most popular two-some because of NCAA violations, I remember Boom Herron campaigning to get (a then-uncommitted) Terrell Pryor to come to the good guy's during the Army All-American game. Would be good to see our commits proselytizing the uncommitted guys a bit!
How is this possible? Herron was in '07 class, Pryor was in '08 class.

You're right! Maybe I'm thinking of Devier Posey? Who knows, I've blocked most of the TP era out of my mind to be honest haha.
It was DeVier, I remember him putting the buckeye leaf sticker on the back of Pryor helment before the game
It woul be nice if by the time these games are played some of these recruits that are uncommitted are added to that seven. If Mitchell or Conley commit to tOSU before the games, that gives even more "recruiters" available to the undecideds.
Just wishful thinking...
One thing to keep in mind, though, is the idea that some of these guys may have already given their silent verbal to Urban and the Buckeyes, and have been told to announce it during the game. I'm not sure I agree that is conceivable, but someone brought that up in a different thread concerning past Urban Meyer recruiting tactics at Florida. The more national exposure and name-recognition during an event like an All-American game, the more OSU becomes the "it" program in CF today.

The list has grown with the official invitations to the US Army game for Johnny Townsend and Michael Hill, and the verbal by Gareon Conley, an Under Armour All-American participant.
Mitchell and Quick are now set to announce at the US Army game, and Tony Stevens has also been invited to the US Army game.
This list of OSU commits in these high-level games may continue to grow based on all the information we've received from Alex, Miles, Derek, and others. Hopefully Mitchell and Trey Johnson decide to be Buckeyes, and at least one of Quick or Gibson is very realistic.
Buckeye fans may not have a bowl game to follow, but we can sure follow incoming Buckeye players who we could be watching in even more important bowl games in the future!
