I have been crazy busy at work lately so I haven't been able to stay on top of things like I usually do -- I keep hearing mixed things on various boards with regard to Cardale. What are the facts? Does anyone have reliable information on whether he is happy / unhappy and is or is not looking to transfer?
Thanks much.

Wants to transfer before he ever dresses for an actual game? Or even participates in a fall camp?
Sounds like he picked the wrong school to go to.
Probably not. I have a few friends that work with the team and they say he could be used with some (split out) trickeration this fall; he's got a cannon of an arm. I seriously doubt he transfers, he wouldn't have much elgibility.
I don't know about all the rumors, but he did tweet #BigMistake after the spring game. I do not know if anyone ever found out if it was about his lack of playing time or something he ate for breakfast.
His twitter page is still covered with OSU wallpaper and his picture has OSU in it. If he wasn't happy with OSU, you wouldn't thing he would leave all the OSU stuff up for people to see.
Exactly. I think he'll be okay.
I'd be very surprised if he transferred before a down of football was played....
I would be worried if he WASN'T pissed about not getting in the spring game.

^ Shane Falco agrees wholeheartedly:
Fun fact, Reeves's character (Falco) played for Ohio State and got trounced in his last game by Florida State in the 1996 Sugar Bowl. Albeit a couple years early; but almost reality, no?
I never really understood his commitment in the first place. why waste a schollie on a backup QB anyway? We have Guiton this year and JT Barrett could take over next year in an emergency situation in case Brax gets roughed up. Couldnt be any worse than Joe Bauserwoman last year.
I see both sides to your argument...the other being Troy Smith was going to be a backup and we all know how that turned out. I say give the kid a chance to compete and it will work out one way or another.
P.S. Reeves also played Johnny Utah in "POINT BREAK" who also played for tOSU.
@SHADY - Personally, I'm glad we've got him. Running quarterbacks are at constant risk of injury (see Robinson, Denard), and I'd have been scared half to death with only one scholarship 'qube behind our main man Brax followed by two walk-ons. Not to mention, if URBZRENEWAL is right, Jones might be used as a slot reciever/trick play quarterback (like Antawan Randle El with the Steelers)--if so, I'm excited. Plus, look at Troy Smith. I'm betting Tressel figured that he was using his final schollie on Justin Zwick's inevitable backup.
Not to mention that there were some guys who liked him as much or more than Miller out of school.
The kid just got to campus this year..shouldn't be unhappy with anything regarding football, IMHO. He's going to have to site behind Braxton and KG the next 2 years anyway. Might as well just learn all that you can, and work your ass off.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
Thanks for all the good feedback everyone.
@Hodge and LawDog Couldn't Jalin Marshall be used for that trick play 'qube role? He plays Qb right now, he loves playing the position. In fact, if the scenario ever comes up where Brax gets hurt AND our backup as well he could probably take over for the rest of the game. I wouldnt waste a schollie on a "trick play guy." it usually either ends up as a touchdown or an interception. Honestly, if Brax goes down for an extended period of time or lose him for the season we probly wouldnt survive it anyway. you cant lose ur best Qb and win IMO (see Colt McCoy versus Bama.) I understand what u guys are sayin and why we offered him though, I just think 4 years from now it'll be a waste unless he turns out to be a Willie Beamen:D
I think you make good point(s) but I just don't want to give up on the kid. He has already stuck around an extra year (Fork Union?) so I think he at least deserves a chance to show UfM what hes got. If he wants to transfer to see more playing time I would not blame him for a second and would wish him well.
@SHADY - My money says that Marshall will see a lot of duty in said role in 2014 and especially 2015-onward. But, for now at least, we need a guy behind Brax and Kenny G. I mean, most rosters sit pretty with 3-5 qb's, 2 is dangerously low--especially in an Urban Meyer offense. Not to mention, I'd rather have a guy like Jones as a solid backup in 2014 and 2015 while Marshall and Barrett are learning the playbook. Besides, he could possibly be the guy to succeed Miller, as of now his only competition will be Barrett, while the 2015 guys will only have had one year in the system...
@SHADYBUCKEYE
Dumbest post of the year.
Urban is not going to risk Braxton getting hurt on goaline power plays... I imagine he'll see soem action a la Tebow 2006. I think Cardale is up to 235 or something right now. Big dude, powerfule runner. There was no need to play him during Spring Game since Urbz was more concerned about the passing game and especially finding receivers. I could also see Jones lining up at tight end possibly, but we shall see.
Far from dumbest post of the year.. But dumb yes

Probably at least an honorable mention
Long snapper, punter, and backup QB... three positions per eleven warriors peanut gallery that can be left to walk ons :) HAHA...
*And yes I realize that I was the one saying you can get a long snapper as a walk on !
@Scarlet_Johansson: I was referring to him being a 3rd string backup, or possibly even a 4th string backup in a few years behind Brax, Barrett and Henderson (potentially.) In the meantime we have Guiton this year and Barrett next year. Also Jalin Marshall could fill in if the injury bug hits OSU at the QB position. Did u even read all the comments and what we were talking about? Of course if u cut and paste 1 line out of a hypothetical conversation u can make something into the "dumbest post of the year." Thanks for all you contributed to this thread. Very enlightening.
If 11W issued out Buckeye Leaves for intellect yours would look like this:
Shady: poor Bauserman! Did he eventually earn at least a few leaves for showing up to team meetings on time, being a good citizen, etc.?
@Fido I think one time he couldnt find his helmet and borrowed John Simons... does that count??
See 2004 Alamo Bowl if you want just 2 QBs on schollie. Hint: Ted Ginn isn't on the team anymore to run the Wildcat.
Not trying to throw this kid under the bus but isn't Justin Siems also on the roster as QB so where does he fit in the grand scheme of things?
Justin Siems is a walk-on. I'd imagine he'd only play if we really had no other choice. Coach Herman has said he'd like to have at least 4 QBs on scholarship.
Thanks for the info Bass ^^^^^^. I knew he was a team member just wasn't sure what his status was. Figured he was the scout team QB but he is just one of those players that you never hear about.
@ Hodge - Fun Fact - Reeves played two OSU QB's. One in the replacements & one as Heisman trophy winning QB turned federal agent, Johnny Utah in Point Break. Hollywood loves OSU!
Edit: oh shit - I just saw that LawDog already pointed this out...I'm always late to the party.

@Shady
This would be like saying "Why did Ohio State recruit 3-star guys like Malcom Jenkins and James Laurinaitis to be backup corners and 'backers respectively?" You never know who's going to develop and who's going to respond. Cardale was the next best QB we were able to bring in in his class. You bring in guys and let them compete for jobs. There's no guarantee guys like Barrett are going to be beating out Jones. Time will tell, he could very well be Braxton's successor. Aside from that, we most certainly need at least 3 schollie QBs each year.
There's a reason why most schools take at least 1 QB per class.
