With the fallout of Alex Anzalone, Jaylon Smith to Notre Shame, Henri Poggi likely to scUM, LaQuon Treadwell likely to scUM, Josh McNeil eliminating OSU, James Quick leaning towards Louisville, and Ethan Pocic to LSU, it seems our recruiting has taken an enormous hit lately. While I know our class is talented so far, and we're far away from NSD, do we have ANY good news on the recruiting front?

I think it's about 50/50 that we end up getting Anzalone, and even though we're #2 with Quick, I expect that to improve after he actually sees Urban's offense. If not, it's not like we'll have a bad class without him. Also, we didn't need McNeil, as good as he is, Baugh is very similar and ranked higher as well. Pocic stings, but Urban's going to go all-out to get Dorian Johnson, and we'll probably end up with Lovell Peterson.
The good news here is that we're definitely in on a lot of good top recruits, guys like Robert Foster, Derrick Green, Michael Hill, etc. There are also rumblings about Donovan Munger being the next to commit, and Shelton Gibson's announcement is coming this summer as well, and should end in our favor. Don't forget that we're looking great for the 2014 class, and our 2013 class will still be top 10, maybe even top 5.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
thank the 11 who commited allready that is one fine group of future buckeyes
"Give me Liberty, or Give me Death!"
I expect Gibson to announce to OSU on the 20th, but we will see more recruiting news once kids start to see our offense. That will give us a better shot at Quick, plus we need to try to get him back on campus one more time.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
No good news. The world is ending. UFM has failed.

We're never getting another recruit ever again!!!!!!! In all seriousness it's June 3, there are 11 commits and you're all going to have to expect a lot of targets committing elsewhere when you go after triple-4x the amount of player
We should all be glad we're not settling yet. There's nothing quite like seeing the Shoe at game time, and top recruits will soon see that.
There's what, maybe 7 or 8 spots left? Come on. Don't forget...bowl ban = 2 solid months of recruiting right before NSD for Urban and staff (minus the "dead period" - I don't follow recruiting enough to know when that is exactly). A lot of these other schools will have conference title games and bowl games to prepare for. If we didn't have the scholly ban I can only imagine the # of guys Urban would pull in during that last couple month stretch.
Everyone needs to chillax. We have a pretty ridiculous class at this point. Were still in the hunt for Cravens, Gibson, Quick, Foster, Green and others and even if we get just two or three of those guys our class will be insane. We dont have room for too many more so things are going to go pretty slow.
We're not in the hunt for Cravens
beat me to it, woodysglasses. we are definitely in the hunt for some top players, but cravens isn't one of them. he was 85% usc lean before his scheduled midwest trip, but the cancellation of that pretty much guarantees usc. i guess there's a .0000001% chance ucla lands him
I think Green is very iffy as well, BUT I agree that there is plenty of good news, starting with the guys who have already committed.
Ah your right my mistake, i was reading about him a second ago and threw it in there without thinking. Either way my point still stands. Theres a ton of top guys still out there people just have to be patient.
National Signing Day isn't for another 8 months.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but I think one thing that gets lost with needing your recruiting fix is what we've already got. Our class is very strong at DB and we could get even stronger by adding a player like Vonn Bell. Skill positions are also a strength with Barret, Marshall, Elliot, and Baugh among the best at their respective positions. I also have confidence that we'll be adding a couple big names to the skill positions. Bosa is one of the best in the nation on the DL. Lisle and Price are both early 4* commits that nobody seems to talk about.
Losing out on Pocic and J. Smith hurts as it will be very difficult to fill either position with similar talent this season, but we've seen how Urban can close, and I expect there will be plenty of good news on the recruiting front between now and February.
I just went outside, looked up & saw that the sky had actually dropped down several inches. Should another of the targeted recruits have the audacity to turn Urban down commit elsewhere, the floodgates of despair will be too much for me!!
I seriously can't believe that anyone would be too negative about our current state. There are peaks & valleys in every situation. Last year at this time tOSU fans had genuine cause to be upset. Right now we have plenty of reason to be very thankful. If there is any real bad news to be worried about it's Stoneburner & Mewhort making wee wee outdoors & getting arrested for it... I suspect they will not be playing at least a few games & that's too bad as the team could use their services in every game -- which would help them to win games & in turn help recruiting. I would also prepare for a steady stream of piss jokes being aimed in our direction for the next couple months. They're gonna come pouring in for sure.

I doubt it. Peeing on a building doesnt really seem suspension worthy, and at least as far as the Big Ten goes, no other fanbase should be throwing stones.
I don't think there will be suspensions, just a lot of extra conditioning for those two.

Today is June 3rd, 2012. On June 3rd, 2011, our 2012 class looked like this:
Josh Perry, Warren Ball, Jacoby Boren, Brionte Dunn, Frank Epitropolous, Blake Thomas and Tyvis Powell.
Not bad, but nowhere near as good as what we have so far for the 2013 class. Come on people. The negativity is ridiculous.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Trust Meyer and this staff guys, I know everyone is freaking out cuz scUM is about to get #20 tomorrow and almost every recruit is a 4* and missing out on Jaylon, I can understand some of you are upset about it, as I am. But if you know Urbz, he always get's it done. Don't matter what talent he brings in, he makes them all winners. Have patience, by the time NSD comes next year, you will be looking back at this class coming away extremely satisfied. I am happy with how the class is right now and excited to add a few more names to this class. We can't land national recruits and expect scUM to not get any players now. All it comes down to is coaching and heart come gameday. We can have all 3* recruits and I would be remotely satisfied cuz I seen Urbz turn Utah & Bowling Green around. He's a great coach, has a great staff working behind him, adding players like we have so far and more to come...it's a story waiting to be told. Great things to come for this program and expect OSU to contend for a National Title some time soon. Chin up Bucks!
With Meyer, Ohio State is going to be on EVERY major recruits list. We just aren't going to land everyone. We can either accept this or whine and cry about how Urban isn't focused enough on Ohio, or that last year was just lucky because Penn State was going through turmoil, or whatever other excuse we can come up. Will he do everything right? Nope, and he won't land every guy he really wants too. What he will do, though, is bring people to Ohio State that Jim Tressel wouldn't have had a prayer of landing.
What do you think it will do for our recruiting if we hang a hundy on TSUN this fall? What will it do for theirs?
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
A hundy? We'll beat them, but let's not get stupid.
lets not forget how good urban is at stealing recruits as well
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Poggi to tsun, could have been worse.
So tsun will have zero excuses, right?
The good news is D Clarke is off the team.
In The Game, it never matters who has more talent. The Cooper years should tell us that. It's all about will. Who wants it more decides The Game more than who has more talent. Michigan will get talent. They're an old power that is steeped in tradition and winning. A few years of putrid coaching won't change that. They'll pull in recruits. But Urban managed to outscheme Nick Saban several times, beat up on all of UF's rivals, and took Ohio State behind the woodshed with less than ideal talent at important positions. Urban can coach. This year's recruiting class is just getting started. Yes, there have been setbacks. But Urban has yet to coach Ohio State in a real game. We were 5 inches from being up two scores on UM last year with a lameduck coach and a team in disarray. Braxton is better, our WRs will get better or get out, our D is going to be lightyears ahead of where it was last year. Ohio State is very young, is getting better, has had a massive reality check, gets stronger every day under Marotti and knows that last year's Game was thisclose to a Buckeye win. Ohio State will be okay. I take comfort in the fact that The Game is now going to be a war again. I am also looking forward to us finally putting up more than 17 points on Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern and other lower tier B1G teams that for some unknown reason we never are able to actually beat handily. The sun continues to rise, Ohio State is still Ohio State, and it is only June.
I just wanna beat Purdue sometime soon.
If you mean a non-competitive team with inferior talent that doesn't quite fit the system you're running by a coach who is unaware of your rivals and capable of driving a stake through the heart of your team history and pride, all while producing the worst two team defenses in school history and putting an end to the nation's longest consecutive bowl game appearances streak ...then, no. No more excuses.
The excuses will return to "Well, it was in Columbus." "Damn that Braxton Miller and his scrambling abilities!" "We couldn't we stop Hyde, Dunn, Ball with that Beanie Wells'-like stiff arm."
I fully expect this to be a home and home series again with the occasional upset by the away team. Here's to a 20-Year War!
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Per ESPN, we are not in Treadwell's top 7. I guess that ship has sailed.
ESPN are Ohio haters so of course they would omit OSU out, Treadwell wants to visit OSU this summer, so take what ESPN says with a grain of salt.
just because it was reported by ESPN doesn't mean it's wrong. I've never read anything that says Treadwell is a real possibility for Ohio State. He's shown some interest but lots of guys show some interest but aren't legit possibilities.
I just saved a bunch of money by switching my insurance to GEICO
100% of unprayed prayers go unanswered
Never said it was wrong, and Treadwell isn't going to Ohio State by any means unless Michigan explodes. My point was ESPN hating on OSU. It will never go away. When it comes to OSU news on ESPN, I tread lightly on it. Same concept goes for Twitter, I tread lightly when people say things on recruiting unless it's a reliable source.
OSU fans think ESPN hates them. UC fans think ESPN hates. UK fans think ESPN hates. Heck, even SEC fans think ESPN hates them. Notice a theme here??? Can we PLEASE get over this ESPN crap. I surprised no one is crying about the new ESPN article about our starters being suspended. I'm sure some of you ESPN ppl are going to call me out now, but there are A LOT of ppl on here that also agree with me.
Now as far as recruiting goes, I agree that they are def not the source to go for breaking news. I only visit their site bc I like the layout better. I trust Rivals and 24/7 the most.
ESPN hates me. Just like Rod Smart's jersey said 'HE HATE ME'.
