Report: Dorian Bell Suspended for 2011 Season
According to Dave Biddle and others, third year sophomore LB Dorian Bell has been suspended for the entire 2011 season for a third violation of the same team rule. As you'll recall, he was already under a two game suspension that began with the Sugar Bowl.
While not expected to start on defense, he was projected to see the field on special teams. Yay, more good news for your favorite program and coach Tressel.

That's really a shame because Dorian looked like he could have made a difference - if not this year, then next. He was back up at Will behind Sweat and in the hunt for the Sam slot, right?
I wonder what this means for Curtis Grant when he gets here. More opportunity to play as a freshman I suppose.
Holy Toledo, I hope he wasn't trying to sell any of his personal belongings. If these idiots can't learn after being told not to do something, and they do it anyway, 3 X, then they have to pay.

I'm sorry but that seems to me to be a very inappropriate statement unless you know these kids, where they come from, and the circumstances of their transgressions. Just sayin.....

I don't think it matters what he did, other than he broke a team rule (bad), and he did it 3 times (triple bad). He should have learned his lesson after the first suspension. Maybe this will get his attention.

Anyone know exactly what the rule he broke (3 times!) actually was? Everywhere I look just says he was kicked off for "violating a team rule".
Also, while the cupboard may not be bare, anytime you lose a guy who was a 5-star recruit and has spent 2 years in the system, it's a loss. ATO speculates that a transfer is all but a sure thing. Thoughts?
An MGoBlog poster asked a pretty good question: Could a full-year suspension turn into a redshirt year? Would the program prevent that sort of use of the redshirt rule?
Technically the answer to your question is yes.....Bell red-shirted his freshman year though so it's not possible in this case....
If this is his third violation and he is getting suspended for a year failed drug tests are definitely a possibility. Ohio State's drug policy is zero for the first, two weeks for the second, and a year for the third.

This is obviously not based on anything other than the length of the suspension.
We might be in for a rough year. This crap just keeps snowballing faster everyday. Bell probably would have been a stud by the time he left but now he may never get a chance. It amazes me how some of these guys can't follow a few simple rules before they start getting big money in the league. I think he'll transfer.

It's a cycle effect. Coaches from time to time got to step it up, then the 4th and 5th year players take over, then they leave and the next class doesn't quite take over and trouble starts. Then coaches got to step up again restarting the cycle.
