NCAA Seeking to Eliminate Daisy Dukes in College Football
Everyone loved Daisy Duke’s short shorts in The Dukes of Hazzard, so much so that Catherine Bach’s cut-off blue jeans became a women’s fashion craze in the 1980s. It was fine — maybe even encouraged — for a beautiful woman to embrace the trend 40 years ago.
But modern college football players?
Not so much.
Kirk Herbstreit: "That should be a penalty. Just dressing like that should be a penalty. What the hell is it? Wearing shorts out there?"

While few fans enjoy watching football pants creep higher and higher toward places that rarely see the sun, the NCAA appears to feel strongest about it. The organization’s football rules committee has proposed that players must wear leg coverings from the top of their shoes to the bottom of their pants, aligning the rule with the NFL.
Violators would have to leave the game for at least one down to correct the issue. Teams would receive a warning for a first offense, a 5-yard penalty for a second and a 15-yard penalty for a third.
“A lot of this is the look of the game,” NCAA coordinator of officials Steve Shaw told reporters Friday. “The trend has gotten worse. Players with short shorts and little golf socks. It’s not a good look for our game. And it does create health and safety concerns. If you have a thigh board and knee pad, you’re protected.”
Shaw added that officials won’t stop the game solely to remove a player for a uniform violation but will monitor the issue during substitutions. He said coaches and equipment staffs are expected to assist in enforcement.
The NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee will vote on the proposal March 19, along with potential changes to enforcement for unsportsmanlike conduct, offensive pass interference and more.
Former Oregon star Kenyon Sadiq dominates at NFL Combine
If not for Sonny Styles, Kenyon Sadiq would be the talk of the NFL Scouting Combine.
The former Oregon tight end ran the fastest 40-yard dash of any tight end at the combine since 2003, posting an incredible 4.39 seconds on Friday — edging out the previous bests of 4.4 seconds, set by Vernon Davis (2006) and Dorin Dickerson (2010).
Kenyon Sadiq had one of the best days ever by a TE at the Combine:

Sadiq, who checked in at 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, opened the day with an 11-foot, 1-inch broad jump, the top mark of the 2026 combine — until Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers topped it moments later with 11 feet, 3 inches. He also impressed in the vertical jump and bench press, posting 43½ inches (a combine best until Stowers reached 45⅓) and completing 26 reps of 225 pounds.
Coming off a season with 51 catches, 560 yards and eight touchdowns, Sadiq was already a projected first-round pick in 2026, but his performance at Lucas Oil Stadium can only have boosted his stock in the final two months before the draft.
Arch Manning Will Be Limited During Spring Practices
Texas quarterback Arch Manning will be limited during spring practices, head coach Steve Sarkisian told ESPN last week.
Sarkisian said Manning underwent successful foot surgery in January to address “a lingering thing” he had been dealing with during his time in Austin. While the star signal caller is now out of his walking boot, he will ease his way back to full strength in the coming months.
“It wasn’t a serious issue at all. It takes time,” Sarkisian told ESPN. “We’re going to be cautious to make sure he’s a 100% healthy before he goes.”

After two years as Quinn Ewers’ backup, Manning led Texas into 2025 as a preseason Heisman favorite. The Buckeyes beat the Longhorns 14-7 in the season opener as Manning completed 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He ended the year having completed 61.4% of his attempts for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions while running for 399 yards and 10 scores.
"Having a year under his belt and us struggling as a team kind of offensively the first half of the season, and him going through the growing pains in the end, it was a good thing," Sarkisian said. "I think he gained a lot of confidence in the second half of the season, and I think we learned about him, he learned his style of play, and he came back with a really good mindset. This is his team. ... In the end, naturally, he wants to go win a championship. The rest of the things will fall into place, but that's where his mindset is. He's the ultimate team player, and it shows every day."
