Today, I give you great news:
Day says Matt Jones has gotten time at center in practice, and that the Buckeyes have considered everything. Day says if thats what makes sense, well do it, but that he likes to give players time to get their feet under them at a certain position.

God bless. It is a good day.
Word of the Day: Endue.
CONTEXT MATTERS! I think it's almost time we put the "Ohio State has a shaky defense" narrative to bed, because the longer this season plays out and the more you look at the actual numbers, Ohio State's defense isn't just not bad, it's actually one of the best in the country.
Peep this chart.
Context Matters in CFB:

DEFENSIVE Points per drive allowed vs expected points at the start of drives
Bottom L: Great Starting context, great stopping ability
Bottom R: Bad starting context, good stopping
Top L: Good start, bad stopping
Top R: Bad start, bad stopping pic.twitter.com/0dtHxB5UM7
The bottom left is where you want to be as a team. It means you're both pinning your opponent deep and not giving them good field position, and you're stopping them from scoring at a high rate.
And if you notice, Ohio State's in a cluster with three other national title contenders (and Coastal Carolina, which has a dominant defense). Georgia's down there in its own galaxy, but we knew that.
I also really like this chart because it's a really complete picture of defense in that it considers everything you can do to stop a defense from scoring – your actual defensive performance, but also the field position your give them through offense and special teams.
So as good as the Buckeye defense has been in the traditional sense, the Ohio State offense and special teams has been playing some pretty solid defense, too.
BAN 7-ON-7! The commonly held belief is that quarterbacks these days arrive at school more prepared to play immediately than ever before in part because of things like 7-on-7 drills.
Ryan Day isn't exactly buying that. In fact, he thinks 7-on-7 actually hurts quarterback development.
Day believes 7-on-7 "has actually hurt quarterback play." Day thinks it's been beneficial for WRs, but that for QBs, it "gets their release point out of whack."
— Griffin Strom (@GriffinStrom3) November 4, 2021
Basically, Day's beef is that 7-on-7 does not simulate the game at all because there is no offensive or defensive line in front of the quarterback as he makes these throws, nor is there a pass rush. So when they don't have to throw over anybody, Day says "they're making throws that don't exist in a game."
I must admit, I'm one of the shills that always believed 7-on-7 drills were beneficial to quarterbacks, but I'll probably believe the best quarterbacks coach in the country instead.
CANES ON COACH. I'm not far enough removed from college to remember that there are few things better than free food. And I've got some good news, y'all – lunch is on Chris Holtmann today.
Lunch on me tomorrow @OhioState students. @raisingcanes on High Street at 12pm.

Year 3 of our tradition is back! Missed you guys last year.
I appreciate the move, but if he really wants to win over the students, he'll do the same thing for beverages at Midway about 13 hours later. I said there are "few things" better than free food, but free alcohol is one of them.
PRAY FOR NEBRASKA AND THE REST OF THE B1G. Ohio State has officially found its champion.
Im getting ready early for my #Buckeyes to devour Nebraska,

My guy's forgetting about the Big Ten title game, but I'll forgive him as long as that means we get another one of these glorious Tweets.
ANTI-SLEEP. I've never in my life heard of someone above the age of three who genuinely dislikes sleeping. But thanks to Teradja Mitchell, today I know of one.
Are you a morning or night person?
Night person. I don't even like sleep. I do it because I have to, obviously for athletic reasons, but I don't like sleep. When I'm done playing football, I'm not going to sleep.
What do you not like about sleep? I love sleep, so please explain this to me.
I feel like when you're asleep, you're missing out on stuff. Something's going to happen. Even in the wee hours of the morning. I was that kid, growing up, when it's nap time, I used to cry. I didn't like nap time. Obviously, when you're in college, you get tired, you've got to take naps. Your body just crashes out. But I'm not a fan of sleep. I like to stay up all night.
A wild take, for sure, but I honestly appreciate it. When I'm on my death bed, one think I'm pretty damn sure I will not say looking back at my life is "man, I really wish I had slept more often."
SONG OF THE DAY. "18" by One Direction.
NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. A man was 'covered' in poop after a passing plane dumped toilet waste over his backyard... A teen hitchhiker killed in a 1961 crash is identified after 60 years... A World War I veteran went missing in New York City 45 years ago and now a man has been charged with his murder... The lure of emotionally complex video games... Snowbirds aren't just old people these days...
