Jaloni Cambridge has been recognized as the best guard in women’s college basketball.
The Ohio State sophomore was named Friday as the winner of this year’s Dawn Staley Award, which honors the nation’s best guard. Cambridge is the second Buckeye (Kelsey Mitchell, 2018) to win the award, which is presented by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia.

Cambridge wins the award after averaging 23.2 points per game – the sixth-most among all Division I players this season – with 5.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game in 2025-26. Her season was highlighted by a pair of 41-point games, making her just the second player in Ohio State history (also Mitchell) with multiple 40-point games, though her 41 points against Notre Dame weren’t enough for the Buckeyes to avoid an 83-73 second-round NCAA Tournament loss to the Fighting Irish.

With two more years of college eligibility, Cambridge will return to Ohio State for 2026-27 looking to lead the Buckeyes on a deeper NCAA Tournament run after three straight second-round exits.
