Jeremiah Smith, Kayden McDonald, Arvell Reese and Caleb Downs are consensus All-Americans, and Carson Hinzman will also receive a tree in Buckeye Grove.
Smith, McDonald, Reese and Downs all officially became consensus All-Americans on Tuesday as they were named first-team All-Americans by the American Football Coaches Association.
All of them were already named first-team All-Americans by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and Associated Press, making them consensus All-Americans. Each of them would become a unanimous All-American if named first-team All-Americans by Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America, which will announce their All-America teams on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Hinzman joins them as the center on the AFCA All-America team, which is selected by FBS coaches, to earn his first career first-team All-American nod.
Four additional Buckeyes were honored by the AFCA as second-team All-Americans: Quarterback Julian Sayin, wide receiver Carnell Tate, left guard Luke Montgomery and defensive end Caden Curry.
Ohio State’s five first-team selections and nine total AFCA All-Americans are the most of any school.
Smith, McDonald, Reese and Downs become the 94th, 95th, 96th and 97th consensus All-Americans in Ohio State history, with Downs – a unanimous All-American in 2024 – earning consensus All-American status for the second year in a row.
