The spread between Ohio State and Washington got narrower as sportsbooks updated their betting lines for the start of game week on Sunday.
Following Washington’s 59-24 win over Washington State in the Apple Cup on Saturday, Ohio State is now favored to beat the Huskies by just 9.5 points at both FanDuel and DraftKings. The Buckeyes opened as an 11.5-point favorite on DraftKings and a 13.5-point favorite on FanDuel last week.
Ohio State’s trip to Seattle will serve as both its first road game and its first conference game of the season. The Buckeyes had the benefit of an extra week of rest and preparation, as they had a bye in Week 4, while the Huskies are coming off an in-state rivalry game.
That said, Washington will have the advantage of home field at Husky Stadium as Julian Sayin makes the first road start of his Ohio State career. The Huskies also enter the game with one of the nation’s top offenses, having averaged more than 55 points per game this season, though Ohio State will be their first Power 4 opponent of the year.
Ohio State is 2-1 against the spread this season. The Buckeyes entered their season opener against Texas as anywhere from a 1.5-point favorite to a 2-point underdog depending on the book, but covered the spread either way in their 14-7 win. Ohio State also covered the record-setting 55.5-point spread in its 70-0 rout of Grambling State, but fell just short of covering the 28.5-point spread in its 37-9 result against Ohio last week.
Saturday’s game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by CBS.
